Regardless of the type of industrial product, design is an important factor in determining its performance, and in the case of slip rings, the importance of design cannot be denied. Different types of slip rings have different application scenarios. For example, a pancake slip ring with a flat design is particularly suitable for installation in equipment with very little axial space. The slip ring with split design can be used on some platforms that require quick disassembly or timely maintenance due to the ease of installation. The through-hole slip ring can be quickly installed on the transmission shaft and other rotating parts.
In addition to the ease of installation provided by the external design, the internal design of the slip ring is also very important, which determines the life of the slip ring and is one of the most important factors affecting the electrical performance. As a recognized manufacturer in the field of slip ring manufacturing for nearly 30 years, JINPAT has been thoroughly testing slip ring designs. Since the establishment of the R&D center, JINPAT’s laboratory has tested over a thousand different slip ring designs and applied these proven designs to standard and customized products.
Taking the small capsule slip ring as an example, JINPAT has developed products based on this slip ring series, such as long-life slip rings, high-speed slip rings, and slip rings with high IP68 protection. The common feature between long-life slip rings and high-speed slip rings is that their service life exceeds one billion revolutions per minute. The difference is that low-speed slip rings at one hundred rpm can last for many years, while the life of high-speed products at over 20,000 rpm is determined by startup time. The differences in internal structure between these two products are very significant, and the different design solutions give them unique electrical and mechanical characteristics.
In addition to electrical slip rings, there are also some special types of slip rings with unique designs, such as fiber optic slip rings and high frequency slip rings. By transmitting optical signals, a fiber optic slip ring uses optocoupler components internally and does not require friction pairs. Thus, its design and the electrical contact ring have a large diameter, and the frictionless design of the fiber optic contact ring also ensures its very long service life. After the high-speed bearing is replaced, its design operating speed can reach tens of thousands of revolutions. Although high-frequency slip rings mainly transmit radio frequency signals and high-definition video signals, they are still categorized as electrical slip rings. However, their internal structure is also different from conventional electrical slip rings. For example, JINPAT’s LPHF-05D high-frequency slip ring for antenna bases has a multi-pin design, which can effectively reduce phase jitter and is suitable for high-capacity data transmission without delay.
