When evaluating a new rotary interface, maintenance teams need more than a list of product features. They need to understand which service tasks may change, which remain and how the equipment will be supported throughout its operating life.

JINPAT’s upcoming wireless slip ring introduces non-contact transmission as an alternative to sliding electrical contact in the relevant transmission path. This makes the maintenance profile an important part of the selection discussion.

Identify the Source of the Existing Service Work

Start with actual maintenance records.

Does the current assembly require attention because of electrical contact wear, damaged external cables, connectors, contamination or another component? A new transmission method should be evaluated against the documented cause.

Removing sliding contact from a transmission path addresses that particular contact mechanism. It does not establish that every maintenance task in the rotating assembly disappears.

Review the Whole Assembly

Mounting hardware, external connections and other components may still require inspection. The maintenance requirements of the completed machine should follow its actual design and documentation.

The term “contactless” therefore provides useful information about the transmission interface, but it is not a substitute for a maintenance schedule.

Include Access and Support in the Evaluation

For installations where service access is difficult or replacement lead times affect operations, teams should discuss:

  • How the product is installed and accessed.
  • What checks are recommended during routine servicing.
  • How a communication fault is diagnosed.
  • What documentation and replacement support will be available.

For projects in Russia, the operating temperature range should be specified for the actual installation. An indoor production line and an exposed outdoor machine should not be assessed using the same assumptions.

Build a Lifecycle Comparison from Evidence

Compare the proposed solution with the existing arrangement using service intervals, installation work, replacement procedures and validated operating limits.

JINPAT’s announcement does not provide a quantified service-life improvement or maintenance-cost reduction. Those figures should be established through product documentation and application-specific evaluation.

Share your operating conditions and current maintenance concerns with JINPAT to discuss whether its upcoming wireless slip ring warrants evaluation.
